Principles of a Healthy Child Development – High 5 Training
If you sign up for ANY Toronto Sport Leadership Program (sport or aquatic), you are required to take the one day Principles of a Healthy Child Development – High 5 Training. You may take it from the sport or aquatics side, but are only required to attend ONE. Please note that if you are part of the NL program, you high five training is part of the NL schedule. You need not attend another training.
This one-day training will help front-line leader (anyone working with children aged 6 to 12 – i.e. camp counsellor, coaches, swim instructors) improve the quality of programs. It provides in depth training in the HIGH FIVE Principles of healthy child development so front-line leaders understand what they need to do to ensure each child’s social, emotional and cognitive needs are met. Leaders learn activities and gain knowledge, tips and resources to enhance their programs as well as their relationships with children and other staff members. Topics also include bullying, conflict resolution, physical literacy, children’s mental health and moderate to vigorous physical activity.
Candidates choose one location and must arrive on time for the start of the course. They need to actively participate in the training.
